Flaming Dragon Iris
This iris is called Flaming Dragon. I think it is elegant. My husband, Marty chose this one from a small nursery about 15 years ago. We moved it to our new house last fall after it lived in a pot for a year. It likes our new address. It is 18″ tall and the flowers are just 3″ tall.

This is a pretty one – it almost looks more like a Japanese iris than a “regular” one? I don’t have many varieties at this house, moved lots from my old house but the soil here is really awful and only a few very hardy varieties survived. I wish I had more time to put into gardening – every year I say I’m going to, and every year life gets in the way. But I do love irises…..

I always thought this was a Japanese iris. I really don’t know for sure. I wish I had logged all of our plants over the years.

Googled Japanese Iris. I know they don’t grow as well here. They like a different soil. Japanese Iris have no beard and a rib running down the leaves. So I checked and this has a small beard and no ribs. So we have a bearded iris.
